We recently caught up with singer-songwriter Steven A. Clark for an editorial of the latest arrivals from MYKITA Eyewear. Clark's upcoming project, Where Neon Goes to Die, is a piece of self reflection and the complex high and lows of being a young artist in Miami. For more on his creative process, the importance of personal style and his upcoming release, check out the full interview below and shop the MYKITA collection here

How would you describe your creative process & where do you find inspiration?

I would describe my creative process as super organic. I'm inspired by life. My life and other people's lives. I pretty much create all of my own demos and write my songs so its easy for me when I'm feeling something to sit down and let it flow.

How important is personal style to you?

Its super important. Its one of first things I notice. You can almost figure out everything you need to know about a person based on how they dress. Not saying you should stop there or judge but its a good way to get a first impression. Style is art. Its a creative outlet. Not everyone can make a song or painting but everyone can express themselves thru there style.

Your new project is generating a large buzz locally, what can you attribute that to?

I think I'm just always myself with my music. And I have a great team of people with me. Everyone is inspired and excited about the music. This album is special and I've been through a lot since my last project. I finally got to work with my Uncle. He wrote two songs on the album. He is undoubtedly my biggest influence. Sad because he was killed recently and he was supposed to experience all this too, but his energy is still with us. I got to team up with Boys Noize in Berlin who produced the whole album with me. He's the best dude and a genius who can do pretty much anything. Was able to work with Denzel Curry again who kills it every time, and made a really great record with Gavin Turek. She has the most beautiful voice. Just a lot of great energy and talent behind this album.

What track should we be looking forward to the most?

All of them.

Define “The Sport of Fashion” and what that means to you?

Challenging yourself to be creative with the clothing you put on your body.
